Let’s go to an amazing historical site that takes you to over 2,500 years of history—from the reign of Darius the Great right up to present-day Iran.

Bisotun historical complex located in Iran’s Kermanshah Province is packed with monuments that show important features of different rulers throughout its history.

The Statue of Hercules, Bisotun Bridge and Shah Abbasi Caravanserai are just a few examples to note.

Inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the main attraction of the site is undoubtedly the bas-relief and cuneiform inscription ordered by Darius the Great, when he rose to the throne of the Persian Empire in 521 BC.

Bisotun site is one of the most important historical monuments registered on Iran’s National Heritage List.

The historical site is located 30 km east of Kermanshah city.

Among historical monuments in the region, the large inscription of Darius, better known as the Bisotun Inscription, has become famous in Iran and the world.
